Getting to Ghent
The main airport in Belgium is Brussels Zaventem. It is possible to take a train directly from Zaventem to Ghent. The other airport in Belgium is Charleroi; however, connections from this airport are not ideal and we would not recommend flying into this airport if it can be avoided. It is also possibly to fly into Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and take a train from there to Ghent (changing trains in Antwerp).
Eurostar trains arrive into Brussels Midi/Zuid. From this station, you can catch a direct train to Ghent.
Within Belgium, train tickets can be purchased through SNCB (either online or from ticket machines at the stations). If you purchase a ticket online, you will receive a PDF ticket to your email address. Tickets remain the same price if bought in advance or on the day of travel.
Ghent has two main train stations: Gent Dampoort and Gent-Sint-Pieters. Trains from Brussels will arrive into Gent-Sint-Pieters. It is possible to take a bus from this station into the city centre or walk (30 minutes).
Getting to Museum Dr. Guislain and around Ghent:
Museum Dr. Guislain is located on the north-west side of Ghent and can be reached by either foot, public transport, or taxi/uber from the city centre.
From the Korenmart in the centre of Ghent, you have the following travel options:
By foot: approximately 35 minutes (via Hoogstraat and Bargiekaai)
By bus/tram (please note, both include a small portion of the journey on foot): Bus 10, or 56: approximately 25 minutes / Tram T2: approximately 30 minutes.
Tickets can be bought using a credit card on the bus or tram, online via De Lijn, or from ticket machines outside of Gent-Sint-Pieters train station. Tickets can be purchased per trip or per day. Three-day passes are also available.
By car: approximately 12 minutes
